Goods In Transit Insurance

For professionals in the business of frequently transporting cargo around Southern Africa, Compendium’s goods in transit policy provides peace of mind. Whether goods are carried in your own vehicles or by professional carriers, consignments by you are covered on the road and, by extension, rail and air.

Tools of your trade or samples should be insured under business all risks. Also don’t forget our specialist policies for marine operators and the motor trade. Contact us for more information.

Please note:
The territorial limits of the policy are limited to South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zimbabwe and Malawi. Transit by sea is excluded, but such cover may be arranged if required.
Losses due to breakdown of refrigeration equipment are excluded. This cover can however be arranged; speak to one of our brokers.
Theft from unattended vehicles is not covered unless accompanied by forcible and violent entry to, or exit from, either the vehicle, or a securely locked building housing the vehicle.
Inadequate packaging by you or a supplier can lead to the invalidation of a claim.
Cover is generally on an all risks basis, however, limited cover (i.e. fire, collision, overturning and theft following collision or overturning) can be arranged at a discounted premium.
Any unusual types of transit must be discussed with our office/broker prior to the
commencement of a journey.

To speak to one of our brokers, contact us on 031 242 6800, or fill in the Request a Quote form.
