Chantelle, our CEO, has been with Compendium since 1994, taking on numerous roles, including Financial Director and COO. With over 25 years of experience, she’s an expert in the insurance field, holding qualifications in both short and long term insurance.
Her dynamic leadership has been instrumental in growing Compendium’s national presence to what it is today, driven by her focus on customer satisfaction, operational strategy, execution excellence and improved efficiency. Chantelle’s special interest in Risk Management and Regulatory Risks has been integral to our success.
Beyond Chantelle’s accomplishments, she is dedicated to developing her team, offering them opportunities to learn and grow while emphasizing social responsibility and ethics. Her commitment to these principles sets a high standard for the entire organization.
Dareshinie (Priya), our Group Finance Director, with over 20 years extensive and varied experience in accounting, financial and operational management, strategic planning, corporate governance, and business transformation. Priya has held leadership positions across multiple companies in the financial services industry, overseeing complex financial operations and leading high-performing teams. Her humble yet sassy personality makes her eager to leverage her career trajectory of delivering financial excellence and driving sustainable growth to culminate successful companies.
A Chartered Accountant with a deep understanding of accounting and augmented by her CIMA qualification, Priya combines rigorous analytical skills with a forward-thinking approach to create value and optimise organisational performance. She has a proven ability to navigate challenging economic environments, implementing innovative financial strategies that align with the company’s vision and long-term goals.
Passionate about fostering a culture of transparency and accountability, Priya is dedicated to enhancing shareholder value while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. Her expertise in people management, problem solving, process re-engineering and cost savings initiatives ensures that the organisation is well-positioned to meet its objectives in an ever-evolving marketplace.
After completing a BA Degree (Law) at the University of KZN, Durban, in 1996, Jono joined Price Forbes/Alexander Forbes as a Commercial Broker. After 12 productive years at Alexander Forbes he opened his own short term brokerage (Walsure) which he ran successfully for three years. In 2009 he sold his business to Compendium and is now heading up the Durban branch as well as servicing an extensive commercial portfolio.
Carol began her career in Insurance in 1997. Coming from a medical background and being active in the motor industry provided the perfect platform for her later career in both long term and short term insurance. Using her remarkable people skills it was not long before she made her mark in the insurance broking world. Her business portfolio, based on the personal relationships developed and nurtured over the years, continues to prosper and grow as she directs her energies into looking after the insurance needs of Compendium’s ever-expanding client base. Carol is passionate about both Insurance and the Compendium Brand and is responsible for the Marketing and Brand Development of the group.
Dave started out at Protea Assurance Company in 1983 and can now claim over 40 years’ of experience in the insurance industry. In 1989 he joined Geoff Patterson Insurance Brokers where his talents as a marketer were soon noticed. In 1995 he was invited to become a shareholder and part of the management team at Geoff Patterson Insurance Brokers, which later merged to form the Compendium Insurance Group. Today, Dave is an integral part of the customer portfolio development and management team, and is qualified and accredited in all aspects of short term insurance.
Gareth started his insurance career in East London at Reeves Insurance Brokers in 2002 , where he worked in the claims & underwriting departments. In 2005 he joined the underwriting team at Mutual & Federal Insurance Company until 2008 when he had the opportunity to start his own brokerage, Hunter Insurance Brokers in Association with Reeves Insurance Brokers and the Compendium Group, soon after changing the name to Compendium Insurance Brokers Eastern Cape, becoming the first branch off of Compendium Durban. He continued as the Eastern Cape Managing Director until 2018 at which stage he became a group Director of Compendium Insurance Brokers, responsible for the Eastern Cape Region of the business. Gareth has vast experience and a wealth of knowledge & passion for the insurance industry.
Wayne started his insurance career with Protea Assurance Company in 1987. After six years of insurance company experience he joined the rapidly expanding Geoff Patterson Insurance Brokers as a part of their broking team. In 1996 he was asked to join the management team and subsequently became a shareholder. After the merger, Wayne became an integral part of the Compendium team and currently handles a large portfolio of business and has vast experience in short term insurance.
